This hike takes you to one of the most spectacular and unusual landscapes in the archipelago: the caldera of Sierra Negra Volcano, considered the second-largest active caldera in the world, about 10 kilometers across.
Located in the south of Isabela Island, Sierra Negra is one of the island's five active volcanoes and the only one open to visitors in the Galápagos Islands. The tour starts with a drive from Puerto Villamil to the National Park entrance, where the hike begins. Along the trail you'll see the transition from humid zones with endemic vegetation to arid volcanic landscapes.
