South Plaza
Island Tour

South Plaza is a small island located east of Santa Cruz, accessible by boat aboard one of the yachts departing from the Itabaca Channel. Upon arriving on the island, it is very common to be greeted by colonies of sea lions resting along the coastline. The tour continues with a walk of approximately two hours, where visitors can observe both land and marine iguanas, as well as a diverse variety of birds that fish and rest in the area. Among the most popular species are frigatebirds, blue-footed boobies, and tropicbirds. After the hike, a snorkeling activity takes place at a site known as Punta Carrión, where visitors can search for reef sharks, sea turtles, and various species of fish.
